Our Mission
Glendenning Theatre Company makes theatre that turns sparks of imagination into moments of collective connection. We believe theatre’s power lies in gathering artists and audiences through stories that move us, connect us, and remind us we belong to something larger than ourselves.
Collective Effervescence
Our core value.
In the dictionary, it’s the feeling of energy and harmony when people are engaged in a shared purpose.
To us, it’s the spark that binds artists and audiences together.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Anti-Racism (IDEAA) Statement
Glendenning Theatre Company is a firm believer that theatre is only at its best when everyone feels safe and a true sense of belonging. GTC is committed to creating artistic spaces where differences are welcomed and essential to the stories we tell.
American theatre has excluded and harmed many marginalized voices for centuries. GTC stands fervently against these offenses and commits to the ongoing work of dismantling racism, ableism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and all forms of oppression in our spaces and practices.
As a young company, we see this as an urgent call for accountability. We will seek guidance from those willing to share it, and encourage change to benefit artists, audiences, and staff. Inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and anti-racism are the foundation for the stories we tell and the communities we build.
Rooted in collaboration, built on sustainability, and guided by community, Glendenning Theatre Company strives to ensure that everyone who steps into our circle feels seen, respected, and connected to something larger than themselves.
We will enforce this policy in the following ways:
A. Representation
Every season will include work by artists from historically underrepresented and marginalized communities.
Early development programs will encourage and highlight new voices, especially traditionally marginalized voices and emerging local artists.
B. Equitable Pay
Every contract worker gets paid, and rates are shared with everyone working on the production.
We never expect unpaid labor for artistic contribution.
C. Safe and Accountable Spaces
Expectations for respect, anti-harassment, and anti-discrimination will be outlined in our Code of Conduct and enforced heavily across the entire organization, including community partners.
There will be a designated point of contact for concerns or violations of the Code, generally and per-project, listed clearly on our website and available for all employees and audience members.
D. Accessibility
We will produce events in physically accessible spaces.
Accessibility notes will be listed on every public event page (restrooms, mobility access, sensory notes).
E. Transparency
Conduct an annual IDEAA reflection or report detailing our initiatives and accomplishments, reflecting honestly on our efforts.
Invite community feedback through open forms.
