We are GTC

Glendenning Theatre Company is a Chicago-based theatre company that began in 2015 in a little suburban basement on Glendenning Road. The bold, resourceful artistry honed in that space shapes everything we do: work that is curious, creative, and resonant. We create performances and programs that emphasize togetherness and leave audiences seeing the world a little differently.

Our Story

Glendenning Theatre Company was founded in 2025 by Chris Sciortino, whose early artistic life took shape in basements, living rooms, and community spaces. His first production of Wicked, which included a full Defying Gravity sequence, helped capture the spirit of imagination and resourcefulness that is at the core of GTC today.

GTC is currently in its workshop phase, where we’re creating cabarets, readings, and small productions that bring artists and audiences into shared creative space while we hone our artistic identity and get to know our audiences better.

Our inaugural season will launch in August 2026, featuring our first full production of an original play.

Our Work

GTC’s work celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and connection.

We produce work that centers connection between the artist and our audiences. Our producing model is director-led, empowering artists to take ownership of the stories they tell.

Whether we’re developing a new script, celebrating a classic, or building toward a full production, we believe in doing more with less and celebrating our artists, our audiences, and our work.
